The American Boat & Yacht Council is a not for profit 501 c(3) organization established in 1954 to develop safety standards for the design, construction, maintenance and repair of recreational boats. ABYC’s mission is to be the essential source of technical information for the international marine industry. Develop product safety standards, credentialing, education training, and other tools to equip our members to be successful. Everything we do will support our members to achieve the goal of making boating safer. As a result of strong industry and government support, ABYC has evolved in to the most effective vehicle to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities that occur as a result of improper design or maintenance.
